Visiting Rabat

Rabat is not only the third largest city in Morocco, but is also the capital of this North African country. Rabat offers a lot of sights and attractions for visitors and is a popular tourist destination.

What to See
If staying in Rabat or planning a Moroccan holiday there are a few things you shouldn’t cross off your list including the Medina. The Medina is the old town and offers a number of narrow passages and covered alleys boasting traditional architecture at its best.

Inside the Medina you will find a number of historical buildings and the traditional markets. These markets are called souks and are alive with activity, bright colors and pleasant smells. You can buy a host of items from traditional jewelry to perfumes and leather items to pottery. Perfect for souvenirs or gifts for loved ones back home.

The Royal Palace is another sight you shouldn’t miss in Rabat, this palace dates back to the eighteenth century and while you can only walk along the central path, you are able to soak up the magnificent architecture.

Getting Around
You can get around Rabat with ease, the best way is to walk to ensure you don’t miss anything. But there is a good tram and public bus service and there are a number of taxis you can choose from.
