About 2 wks prior to our trip, my husband got a bacterial infection-severe coughing, lack of appetite, no energy, etc. He saw our Dr, twice, had 2 x-rays (to rule out pneumonia) and did 2 courses of antibiotics. I almost cancelled our trip. The doc reassured us he was no longer “sick,” but would need a lengthy recovery time to get strength back, etc. (After we got back from the trip, he was 30 lbs lighter than before he got sick, so the weight loss probably contributed to his lack of energy, too.) If we had been signed up for a group tour, I would have cancelled, but since it was just us two, we thought we could take it easy and not miss the trip entirely. Then in Fes, I picked up some kind of intestinal bug even though I thought I had been careful-no raw veggies, hand-sanitizer, etc. We missed one day of the tour and I appreciated Oussama and Jill helping me through that. Jill interpreted at the hospital, translated the meds instructions and “held my hand.” I guess it was fortunate if I got sick, it was in Fes! I felt fine the next day, but a little tired for a few days.
Oussama was just the best driver! We also enjoyed talking to him about cultural differences and history. He is an asset to you for sure. We didn’t feel like doing a few things, so he drove us around some areas so we at least could get a taste. We don’t have any great pics, but I did get a great video of a waiter at the Palais D’heure Bleu (not sure if i got that exactly right) pouring tea. He was so impressive, we asked if I could video him and he agreed.
I’m sorry we weren’t able to fully partake of all the excursions, but at least we didn’t miss it entirely. Please pass on our thanks and hellos to Jill and Oussama.
