We took “Customized fabulous fortnight – 17 night tour”. The highlights of our tour are Chefchaouen, the Fez medina, glamping in the Sahara, hiking in Ourika, visiting kasbahs, Essauoira, staying in Riads. We loved having dinner at the Riad the first night of each arrival. Our guides in the individual towns were incredibly informative and personable especially Abdul in Chefchaouen and Mohammed in Marrakesh.
Hamid [our driver] was the BEST. His knowledge of the country and English were excellent. He paid attention to what we wanted and then made changes to accommodate our wishes. We did NOT want to eat lunch where the tour buses ate and he found alternate restaurants where locals ate that were clean and safe to eat at. We did NOT want to visit Ait Benhaddou and took us to an alternate Kasbah which we loved. He was an extremely cautious and safe driver. He noticed my husband preferred water with gas and had that in the car each day. We wanted to visit small local markets and he included those when possible. We wanted to visit a local Hammam and he took us to one. He was very thoughtful – when Ron needed cold medicine and the pharmacies were closed in the medina in Marrakesh, he went to the new city and then had the medicine delivered to our Riad. He arranged a birthday cake to be delivered to our Riad the night of my birthday.
Our accommodations on this tour were excellent. Every Riad was fabulous and the food at each was incredible. Our favorite accommodations were Riad Lina, Riad Salama, L’Ma Lodge, Riad Adore, Riad Dar Maya.
This was the first time we ever arranged a customized tour and had a driver. We will do it again.
