There are too many highlights of the trip to try to summarize! We especially loved Chefchaouen and Essaouira. We also loved the night in the desert and Todra Gorges and the goats in the trees.
The riads were all exceptional. We had a wonderful room at the beautiful Riad Myra, the L’Ma Lodge was a special place, as was La Maison Arabe, but I hate to single these out because they were all beautiful and the service and food were excellent. Also, although I usually do not like being taken to shops where we feel compelled to buy, we went to shops and cooperatives that were so special that we were happy to have the chance to buy some things, including two rugs that I love. In fact, I have the cards from one rug shops that I may contact to have a rug that I saw shipped to me.
Tarik [our driver] spoke excellent English. We very much enjoyed his company during the drives and at a few places where he joined us for lunch or tea. I walk with a cane and need help getting in and out of the car, and also needed some brief stops during long walks. Tarik was extremely helpful, and never made me feel as if I was a burden. It was clear that he had good relationships with local guides and shop owners, and he paced the trip well, including making rest stops along the way that had clean bathroom facilities and good food.
Our favorite accommodations on this trip are Riad Myra, Marhaba desert camp, L’Ma Lodge, and La Maison Arabe. The riad Madada Mogador was in a perfect location for exploring Essaouira and the hotel Le Doge was beautiful.
We had been wanting to go to Morocco for some time, and always seemed to put it off, so after years of thinking about going, our expectations were high. The trip far exceeded even our high expectations.
We would recommend Experience It Tours without any hesitation to everyone.
