On the lookout for holidays with variety in every corner, and after reading Experience It Tours webpage, decided Morocco was our destination. More, for the personalized private driver offer, providing the flexibility and variety of events we wanted and not being part of a tour party, and then EIT/Jeff came to us with every consideration. From first contact to the very last, Jeff, Ruth and the team were there for us even to a last minute inclusion of an additional member to our party, and a change to final accommodation and making a dinner reservation for us at Rick’s, Casablanca.
We chose all riads for authenticity; most notable Dar Meziana, Chefchaoen, Ryad Salama, Fes, L’Ma Lodge, Skoura and Riad Mimouna, Essouira. Wonderful hosts, beautiful properties and meals exceptional. Each were a joy to enter, so far removed from Western style with mosaics, rugs, luxurious furnishings, etc.
To have Majid as our driver and he being a major part of the holiday, added to the whole Moroccan experience for us with his first hand knowledge willingly shared of all facets of Morocco, too much to have read, but easily absorbed whilst driving the many miles we travelled. He offered photo stops whenever, comfort stops of quality, particularly when we succumbed to the lurgy, including a pharmacy stop with interpretation! His humor and easy conversation were very much welcomed. Equally important for the miles covered, he is a safe considerate driver on the open roads, windy roads and through city congestion. Thank you Majid and for sharing your home cooked treats with us!
Our guides at chosen points of interest were a must with so much knowledge to share, again, and made the tours most fascinating and rewarding.
We enjoyed the towns mentioned earlier for their less frenetic pace, beauty and gentle folk and now with hindsight, may have cut out a night in Marrakech and included a night in El Oualidia. Our lunch at this beautiful latter venue was superb and a relaxing overnight stop would have been wonderful.
I did my research and Majid took us to the Women’s Co-operative Marjana for the production of Argan Oil on the way to Essaouira and had a most interesting and rewarding stop, coming away with the purest oil. We didn’t pursue the stop at the Berber Pharmacy Jeff spoke of, maybe next time?
Our Sahara Desert experience was magnificent; the camel ride one way was enough without protection, but worthy experience and the ensuite tent so comfortable, dinner delicious with entertainment.
I could go on and on, but think it better you engage EIT to give you the experiences not to be missed out on. Go and enjoy, we did!
