We had a wonderful time, and would absolutely recommend Experience It tours (and in fact, I do hope we can still do that Tunisia trip someday!).
We were all so glad to have a driver/guide. Rachid went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed, and he let us make decisions about what we wanted to do (i.e.: change up the plan a bit!). He spontaneously stopped for fruits, dates, even music along the way. He also helped us to negotiate, and ensured that no one put pressure on us to do (or buy) anything. He should absolutely continue to support Experience It.
I’d also like to recognize the guides we had in Fes and Essaouira — Driss and Ahmed were excellent guides, and we loved them both. Please do continue using them!
The camels / dunes were an amazing experience. Again, I’d recommend the company (and our guide, Moha) to anyone going to Morocco. That was a truly special experience.
We particularly loved our nights at Dar Fes Medina, and Riad Mimouna at the end in Essaouira. Read Mimouna even upgraded us to a suite, and it was frankly an incredible few days. Mohammed and his team at Dar Fes Medina went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome; they cooked us dinner, brought us tea and cookies, and overall it was an incredibly lovely experience. I’d absolutely recommend both to anyone traveling to Morocco.
Some other comments:
Do advise passengers leaving from Casablanca that they need to allow significant time 1+ hour (even 90 minutes!) to get through immigration. Honestly, I’ve traveled fairly extensively within Africa, and that was one of the most stressful, longest, and potentially aggressive immigration experiences I’ve ever had!
I wouldn’t cut out on any of the time we spent anywhere, but, I would suggest anyone following a similar itinerary to add an extra day and stay somewhere along the coast between Essaouira and Casablanca! Or even potentially to stay somewhere along the way (2-3 hours out of Casablanca?) and then travel into Casablanca on the day of their flight (instead of staying in Casablanca). The coastline was so beautiful; we would have loved another night along the way.
Thank you so much for all your help in coordinating all of this; we will try to send photos as soon as possible! We had a wonderful trip, and we’re very grateful to have gone through you guys.
Molly.
