Which tour did you take? Morocco 14 days, 13 nights
What was the highlight(s) of your trip? The whole trip was a highlight & fantastic! We loved roaming Chefchaouen, I think we covered every inch on foot. The craziness of Fes was wonderful, the tannery. I loved driving, thru the desert, the mountains, the Berber villages. Todra Gorge was scenic, Roman ruins of Volubulis was a great surprise. Actually seeing the argon tree climbing goats was a real treat.
Are there any places/activities that you’d advise leaving out in the future? Why? Not necessarily leaving out, maybe rearranging or adding time if I was planning with what I know now. I would have liked to spend a day in Ouarzazate, it looked fun when we made a quick stop there. Maybe one less night in Skoura, there was down time there and as a group, we don’t do down time very well. Maybe because the hotel was away from anywhere we could walk around. In Marrakech, would have been nice to see the YSL Museum, it was closed the day we went to the Jardins. Maybe some rearranging activities to visit when open.
Would you recommend Experience It Tours? Absolutely! Without any hesitation.
Any comments about your driver: Mark’s Review. On our recent trip to Morocco we were lucky enough to have Youssef Maamri as our tour guide and driver. His love and knowledge for his county and people made the trip beyond outstanding. We felt like a family the entire time. We are very experienced travelers throughout the world and he made this the best trip ever. He met our demanding expectations with ease and also made us all smile. I would highly recommend him for anyone that wants a world class experience.
Cindy adds to this review. Youssef was a treasure. His knowledge of Morocco is impressive and he enthusiastically shared it. As a group we like to immerse ourselves in the places we are visiting, we like to minimize where bus loads of people are visiting, although sometimes this cannot be avoided. We like to walk, a little off the beaten path. When we wanted to stop to see the shepherd & his sheep, or tree climbing goats, or olives, or Jimi Hendrix’s Restaurant, or whatever, Youssef did it. He was so easy to be around I felt like he was vacationing with us. He biked with us, he hiked with us, he danced with us, he laughed & joked with us while doing his job as driver and tour guide expertly. He is the absolute best, he is highly, highly recommended.
Please list your favourite accommodations on the trip. All the accommodations were great. The Riads are definitely the way to go. They are all small, beautifully decorated and the food was excellent. If I had to pick a favorite I guess it would be Riad Myra in Fes. Or, was it Dar Baibou in Chefchaouen??

Any other comments you want to share: This trip really gave us an education in Moroccan culture. Visiting the Hassan II Mosque, the Kasbahs, the walled cities, the doors, the zellige tiles, the pottery, the underground water tunnels, fossils, Madrasas, Gnawa music, argon oil. There is just so much, I loved every minute! I also want to mention the cooking class we did with Latifa in Essaouira was terrific. She was a great instructor and the meal was very tasty.
