“Highly Recommend [our] Itinerary!”

We would highly recommend this itinerary. From the moment Rachid picked us up at the airport until the last possible moment, he was the ultimate driver and guide. His pride in his country was an inspiration and his insight enabled us to have a more meaningful trip. He was so protective  and solicitous!  We have traveled abroad frequently and can easily say that his attentiveness made the trip such a success. We enjoyed seeing his favorite spots. He even taught me Arabic and helped me to converse along the way by whispering in my ear when I was at a loss for words when bargaining. And at the end of our trip, he had burned CDs for us with the Arabic and French music we liked.
We enjoyed Chefchouen and our local guide, Mustafa. Also Volubilis was a highlight. Our time at Belle Etoile was a standout, especially as we were virtually the only ones in our section of the encampment. What a treat! The night hike up the dunes was an exercise in trust as we could not see a thing in front of us. But the reward was the most beautiful night sky ever. And the staff were very attentive. When do you get to watch a moonrise all night at home? Also, probably no need to advertise showers for those traveling in winter months as the pipes were frozen but who really needs a shower with those temperatures….

And of course we loved Fes, shopping included! One thought is to provide a few more options for the free day. Maybe the availability of a local guide for another day in the medina as it was the abyss. And that does not mean that Rachid did not take good care but I do understand that he is not considered a guide. The riad in Fes was lovely but I do not recommend our room which had a loft. The steps were treacherous.

The riad in Marrakech was was amazing and so were the meals. We loved Majorelle and the medina. We would have enjoyed another day here. One suggestion is that to avoid the motion picture studios and the kasbah near Dades. Also, our rooms at all of the Xalucas were lovely. As were both the gorges.

Also, Casablanca is not my idea of fun. Too crowded and not much there. And we thought Los Angeles drivers were tough! Wow!

Rachid had great recommendations for meals and we came home a bit heavier than we when left! His knowledge of the local guides, and parking spots and parking attendants was a big plus. We never felt our belongings were unsafe in the van.

Many thanks,
