The highlights: The camel excursion was great fun and we would do that again. Chefchaouen was unique and a place I would visit again. It provided a nice respite from the fast pace and busyness of the larger cities. The people of Morocco were very welcoming and it was a very educational experience to learn about their culture and way of life. We loved w alking through the old Medinas and the souks were fascinating and colorful. The Hassan II Mosque and Roman city of Volubilis were not to be missed!
[Our driver] Tarik was very personable and by the end of the trip we considered him to be a friend. He was flexible with time and honored any requests we had. He had been to our home state before and we could also relate on that level. He took good care of us and we recommend him highly!
Each place had its own charm. We definitely preferred the Riads to the hotels. Riad Myra was beautiful and was my personal favorite, although Dar Meziana and Riad Chergui were also lovely. We appreciated the tranqulity, privacy and hospitality . L’ Ma Lodge and Chergui had lovely pools to relax by and the rooftop patios offered great views of the surrounding areas.
All our tour guides in the various cities were very knowledgable and we learned much on our trip. We met Mohammed in Chefchaouen, Kamel in Fes, and Mahdi in Marrakech. We would have loved to spend more time among the Berber people especially. We both enjoyed the trip immensely and hope to return to Morocco in the future because there are other places there we did not have time to see and so much more to learn. I will have fond memories of our time spent there for years to come.
