Sahara Excursion from Marrakech
4 Days / 3 Nights
Day 1 Marrakech / Ouarzazate (D)
After breakfast you depart for Ouarzazate over the High Atlas Mountains through the Tichka Pass. Keep your eyes open for the Berber villages tucked away in the mountain side. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, lunch will be served. In the afternoon, you will tour Aït Benhaddou, one of the world's most magnificent Kasbahs, this setting has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco; films including, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and recently The Gladiator. Dinner will be served at the Hotel.
Day 2 Ouarzazate/ Erfoud / Sahara Desert (B, D)
The next destination will be Erfoud, a small town on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival in Erfoud, you will visit the little town, which will provide insight into the desert way of life. An optional visit to the fossil factory is an excellent choice. In the afternoon, you will set out across the barren desert land in your 4 wheeled drive vehicle. You will set off by camel for a 2-hour trek out to the oasis where you will spend the night in Berber tents (Dinner is included). ***this could be optional if you would prefer to return to the hotel to sleep***
Day 3 Erfoud / Todra Gorges (B, D)
After breakfast you will depart for Tingher (Todra Gorges) along the road of 1000 kasbahs. You will enjoy the picturesque Todra River Valley, which makes for a beautiful journey towards the final destination for today, the magnificent, colossal Todra Gorges (600 feet). Dinner will be served in the hotel.
Day 4 Todra Gorges / Marrakech (B)
Your last day of travel will take you back to Marrakech, over the High Atlas Mountains. On route, you will visit the beautiful Kasbahs of Taourirt and Tifoulout, Dades Valley, and stop for lunch at Elkalaa of M'Gouna, the city of roses.
