We had a wonderful vacation in Morocco. Thank you so much.
I thought you might like some feedback so I took notes as we went. Actually, I keep an extensive journal of sketches and notes whenever I travel. The driver who met us in Casablanca, (Erand) went out of his way for us. After taking us to the Kenzi Basma, he drove us to a Moroccan restaurant for lunch, then waited and took us back, stopping at an ATM machine which we needed. He refused to take anything for his time! A nice welcome for us.
The Riad Dar Dmama (Fes) is in a great location and is quite beautiful, but we were in an unfinished room. The walls were wet and there was no place to hang anything. Even the mirror was perched on a chest that we should have been able to open and use. Sorry we didn’t get to meet you.Our Fes guide Ahmed Boustiha was terrific.
Xaluca Kasbah (Erfoud): Fantastic! Spacious elegant accomodations and they did laundry for us in 2 hours.Great quad ride in the morning.
Kasbah Lamrani (Tinghir): Very nice.
Riad/Maison d’Hotes IRocha (Tuesday): Looks super although we didn’t see the rooms. Our hosts were VERY nice and there was a nice feeling of comradrie. The Berber home we stayed in was also very nice, beautifully decorated by the owner/artists who spoke French.
Dar Chems(Marrakech): Everything one could want in a room. Very friendly helpful staff:Zainab Ghanfour was like a mother for us. “Nouri” (Noureddine Zerrad) was another excellent guide who knew what to look for in merchandise we were considering and watched out for us very well. Except for the missed connection with Abdel (why didn’t Abdel phone?) which had no effect upon us, he was also a terrific guide.
Riad Mimouna (Essaouira): super location, lovely hotel, spectacular rooftop breakfast. In Essaouira, though, I would recommend including only breakfast with the room as there are so many wonderful places to eat out.
And, of course, Abdel. He was such an important element in our trip: not only an excellent and careful driver, he was on the lookout for things we wanted, knew the best spots to be when, was easy to understand, was always on time, and also went out of his way for us. Furthermore, we enjoyed his company and feel like we left a friend behind in Morocco.
Again, thank you for providing us with the guides and arrangements that made our trip fantastic.
