Morocco World Music Festival

The delightful seashore town of Essaouira (State Party Morocco) is a city and tourist resort in Morocco, is home to a yearly festival celebrating the inexplicable music of the Gnaouas.

The yearly Essaouira Gnaoua as well as World Music Festival is a carnival of the strange music of the Gnaouas, the product of a spiritualist tradition with brushwood as widespread as Haitian voodoo plus Brazilian Candomble. A picturesque port decorated in blue and white, Essaouira is the perfect that most travelers dream of when they believe of North Africa: laid-back along with yet vibrant, full of atmosphere and relaxing.

The town's status as a travelers' most wanted makes it the perfect location for a morocco festival dedicated to the feats of the Gnaouas, best known meant for their tasseled hats, which spin wildly as the musicians' rock. Artists come into view include the best musicians of the genre as well as morocco festival entertainer from around the world. There are two main outdoor stages, three more in the medina, two meant for acoustic acts along with two for late fusion/electro performances.

Originating all the way through a cross-pollination of African magic as well as Islamic rituals, the Gnaoua brotherhoods form a well thought-out unit around a master. He leads the music as well as dancing until the participants are in a trance encourage by the mesmeric regularity of the drums, the guenbri (a form of lute) as well as the hand-held garagab (metal castanets). For the duration of religious ceremonies, Gnaouas have been known to impale themselves on swords otherwise beat their heads with iron balls exclusive of at the bottom of visible external injury.

Faint-hearted visitors will be contented to know that the Essaouira morocco Festival does not feature such tremendous performances: the program focuses on top of the purely musical elements of Gnaoua tradition in adding together to their influence on African-inspired musicians.
